Surface Coatings
Non-stick coatings are most often associated with cooking and food production, but non-stick treatments can be used in many processes where you want to prevent materials from adhering to a surface. To give your tool or product the desired properties, the coating and material need to be adapted – and that is precisely our specialty.
Our coatings can withstand high operating temperatures, and we can apply non-stick coatings to all types of metals. To some extent, we can also coat plastics, wood, fiberglass, and other less temperature-resistant materials.
Simply put, non-stick coatings prevent substances from adhering to a treated surface. By limiting adhesion, we often achieve improved production flows, extended lifespan for machine components, reduced cleaning needs, and protection against moisture, dust, and dirt. A non-stick coating makes the treated surface both water and oil repellent (hydrophobic/oleophobic). The coating's composition controls properties such as abrasion resistance, operating temperature, thickness, chemical resistance, and more.
Since our parent company focuses on bakery and other food production, we have extensive expertise in non-stick coatings specifically for the food industry. In addition to naturally holding the necessary permits and using approved materials, we constantly work to develop and improve coatings and processes to ensure a safe final product. For example, we offer coatings suitable for sticky materials like doughs and casting compounds, as well as coatings that reduce the need for fats and lubricants.
A beneficial side effect of non-stick coatings is often low friction. When friction is reduced, noise levels in production decrease. Naturally, there are many other situations where non-stick coatings solve problems, enhance efficiency, or simply become a prerequisite for profitable production.

At Bakers Coating, we primarily utilize Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Fluoroethylene Propylene (FEP), Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA), silicone coatings, and Sol-gel to achieve the specific non-stick properties required.

PTFE is a thermoplastic polymer and the most widely recognized fluoropolymer. It's commonly used for non-stick coatings and sealing applications due to its exceptional properties. PTFE coatings offer an incredibly low coefficient of friction combined with superior non-stick performance. We work with a wide range of PTFE variants, allowing us to optimize specific properties for your exact application.
Fluoroethylene Propylene (FEP)FEP is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer known for its excellent non-stick properties and very low coefficient of friction. It offers high temperature resistance and is considered a non-porous coating, providing exceptional chemical resistance. This versatile coating finds broad application in both traditional industrial settings and food production.

PFA is a fluoropolymer closely related to PTFE, sharing similar excellent temperature and chemical resistance. However, PFA offers enhanced formability and processing advantages over PTFE. It also provides good abrasion resistance and reliable non-stick characteristics.

Sol-gel is a ceramic, or nano-coating, applied using a chemical technique. This method imparts surfaces with exceptional properties such as high temperature resistance, chemical resilience, enhanced hardness, or anti-reflective qualities. It finds frequent application across the automotive, construction, and electronics industries. Notably, sol-gel coatings offer a high non-stick effect and are entirely PFAS-free.
