Surface Coatings
Bakers Coating is one of the Nordic region’s leading providers of polymer coatings, ceramic coatings (Sol-Gel), epoxy silicone coatings, and standard silicone coatings. We offer both contract coating services and manufacturing support for our parent company, Bakers AB.
Our facility meets current environmental standards, and we are committed to continuously reducing our own and our customers’ environmental impact. Our service offering also includes pre-treatment processes such as blasting and flame spraying, as well as re-treatment.
Our coatings can be applied to a wide range of base materials and are mechanically anchored to the substrate for long-lasting protection. We use thermally sprayed layers and can tailor each coating to deliver the desired properties — whether for high-volume production or specialised components.
The choice of coating depends on several factors, including:
Depending on the application and material, a primer (base layer) is sometimes applied before one or more surface coating layers. The coating is sintered at high temperature, creating a smooth, non-porous surface that enhances performance.
We can also add reinforcement layers to achieve properties such as non-stick performance, improved sliding ability, or increased wear resistance.
Our ovens can typically handle parts up to 6 x 2 metres, with virtually unlimited lengths depending on geometry.

Certain applications require pre-treatment to ensure strong and durable adhesion. When a primer alone is not sufficient, we offer the following methods:
Flame spraying strengthens the surface by applying a molten additive (such as titanium or tungsten carbide) using a gas flame. This creates a roughened surface layer that provides excellent bonding for subsequent coatings.
Even the most durable coatings wear over time — but in many cases, components can be refinished rather than replaced. We remove the worn coating and apply a new one, restoring the part’s performance and extending its service life.
Refinishing is a cost-effective and resource-efficient alternative to replacing worn parts or plates. For example, an industrial back plate can typically be refinished multiple times over its life cycle.
