Low-Friction Coatings
Low-friction coatings are essential for minimizing friction on dry sliding surfaces. This reduction offers numerous advantages, including decreased energy consumption, less heat generation, and prolonged component lifespan. We also often see synergistic benefits such as reduced maintenance downtime, increased production speeds, and quieter operations.
While we primarily apply low-friction coatings to aluminum and steel components, we also have expertise in coating epoxy materials and various plastics.
Low Friction as a Problem Solver
Simply put, low-friction coatings can be seen as a problem-solver. By increasing the durability and precision of, for example, a cutting tool, quality, economy, and resource utilization all improve. It's also easy to justify a coating for guide rails, as it provides both better abrasion resistance and ergonomics while reducing the need for lubricants. Low-friction coatings are corrosion-resistant and temperature-stable, making them useful across many different industries.
Withstands High Heat and Arctic Cold
For low-friction coatings, we primarily work with various PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) variants. PTFE is widely used in industry because it combines a very low coefficient of friction with excellent release properties. It has the lowest coefficient of friction of all known solid materials, and it is almost as low statically as it is dynamically. The coating itself has high adhesion and is very durable. An additional benefit is that the coating has a very wide temperature range: from -200°C to +260°C, allowing for both deep freezing and sterilization.

PTFE is a thermoplastic polymer and the most widely recognized fluoropolymer. It's commonly used for non-stick coatings and sealing applications due to its exceptional properties. PTFE coatings offer an incredibly low coefficient of friction combined with superior non-stick performance.
